IPL 2022, GT VS DC: Gill’s Fiery Knock Guides GT to Win

GT vs DC at MCA stadium in Pune saw Shubman Gill prove his skills with a scintillating knock that guided the newborn franchise to a win.

Gujarat Titans posted 171/6 in 20 overs on the back of an excellent inning of 84 runs from Gill filled with gorgeous strokeplay.

In reply, Delhi Capitals failed to make partnerships with the substance required to overcome the target in front of them.

Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first and revealed that they had made one change to their side by bringing in Mustafizur Rahman in place of Kamlesh Nagarkoti. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans remained unchanged.

GT Innings:

Mathew Wade was sent to the pavilion with 0 runs on the board for Gujarat. Mustafizur Rahman was the first one to strike for Delhi Capitals. Vijay Shankar followed Wade on the crease but had a dismal batting performance in the middle. He scored 13 off 20 balls with a strike rate of 65 in the GT vs DC encounter.

Shubman Gill, on the other end, was wreaking havoc by single-handedly taking his team forward at an acceptable run rate. Gill overshadowed the big hitter Hardik Pandya in their partnership of 65 runs for the third wicket. Hardik Pandya scored a fighting 31 off 27 before Khaleel Ahmed sent him back.

Shubman Gill’s knock of 84 off 46, including 4 sixes and 6 fours, but Khaleel removed him at an essential point in the game. DC Innings:

Chasing 171, DC needed at least two partnerships of significance, but Gujarat Titans’ ploy of bowling short at MCA worked impressively to help them win the match. Lockie Ferguson was the star for the Titans in their bowling effort against DC to win the game.

The top three of the Delhi disappointed again, with Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert and Mandeep Singh failing to register innings of any importance. Ferguson sent back Shaw and Mandeep while Hardik accounted for Tim Seifert.

Delhi was down on 34/3 and required some heavy-lifting to pull the match to their side. It is when Rishabh Pant, the captain, stood up to the occasion in GT vs DC clash. Pant combined with last match hero Lalit Yadav to form a 61 run stand for the 4th wicket. However, miscommunication between the two led to Lalit Yadav being run out by Abhinav Manohar.

Lalit’s dismissal opened up the doors for Gujarat’s comeback. Lockie Ferguson was brought into the attack, and he removed dangerous Pant and Axar Patel to help his team grasp the game by the neck. Pant scored 43 off 29 before Ferguson deceived him with his pace. Rovman Powell did show some promise, but it was already too late for Delhi to come out on the winning side in GT vs DC battle.

Delhi fell short by 14 runs to concede the first loss of the tournament.
