IPL 2022, RCB VS GT: Kohli masterclass keeps RCB’s hopes alive

RCB vs GT was a do or die clash for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they were on the verge of being eliminated from the race for the playoffs. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis were brilliant in the game. Together they put up 115 runs for the first wicket while chasing 169.

Virat Kohli announced his arrival in the form in style by taking the reins of the inning and being the aggressor. He scored 73 off 54 including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Unfortunately, he could not stay till the end.

Faf Du Plessis, the RCB skipper played a sensible knock as Virat Kohli was going at a healthy rate from the other end. Faf notched up 44 off 38 during his stay at the crease.

Rashid Khan dismissed both Faf and Kohli and momentarily Gujarat Titans were brought back into the game. However, Glenn Maxwell was in no mood to let the match go till the last over.

Maxwell continued from where Kohli has left. He remained unbeaten on 40* off 18 to guide his team to the victory. With this victory, RCB has accumulated 16 points in their league games.

However, due to a negative run-rate RCB’s chance of making it to the playoffs depends on the clash between DC vs MI. If Delhi Capitals win that game then RCB will be ousted from the tournament.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have been eliminated from the playoffs race after Royal Challengers’ victory against Gujarat Titans.

Earlier in the RCB vs GT encounter, Hardik Pandya played a fabulous knock of 62 of 47 to guide his team to a respectable and fighting total. David Miller and Wriddhiman Saha also contributed more than 30 runs each in the GT total.
