IPL 2023: 3 International spinners who might get benched for the entire season

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League will be starting from March 31 and the last league match will be played on May 21.

The tournament is finally back to its original home-away format, and hence, teams like SRH and RR were shopping profusely to bag as many spinners as possible in the 2023 auction. However, sadly most of them still might warm the benches for the entire season.

Here are 3 International spinners who might get benched for the entire season:

1. Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner, who is associated with CSK since IPL 2018, has never been able to play an entire season. Though the home conditions might entice his participation, CSK still has adequate spinners in their primary front-line XI in form of Ravindra Jadeja, Maheesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali.

2. Akeal Hosein

Akeal Hosein bagged his maiden IPL contract with SRH who bought him for INR 1 Crore in the auction last year in December. However, with Adil Rashid being their frontline overseas spinner, and with Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips and captain Aiden Markram being their other overseas players, Akeal may find it difficult to get a place in the playing 11.

3. Adam Zampa

After going unsold in the Mega Auction, Zampa was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.5 Crore in IPL 2023 Auction. Having local spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzi Chahal, Zampa might not start as Rajasthan’s premier spinner. Even when it comes to playing an extra spinner, Zampa will lose out to his teammate Murugan Ashwin.
