The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League will be starting from March 31 and the last league match will be played on May 21. Defending Champions Gujarat Titans will be facing Chennai Super Kings in the opening encounter.
With less than 15 days left for the tournament to begin, one thing is troubling the camp of Delhi Capitals and that is the fitness of David Warner. Warner suffered a concussion and also a fracture on his left elbow during the second Test match in India and he subsequently missed the last two Test matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
Owing to their injury, he also missed the 1st ODI against India. Hence, the question arises, who will replace David Warner as the captain of Delhi Capitals if he doesn’t get fit on time.
Here are 3 players who can take over captaincy duties of Delhi Capitals in absence of David Warner in IPL 2023:
1. Prithvi Shaw
Former India U-19 captain Prithvi Shaw will be one of the best candidates to lead Delhi Capitals in absence of David Warner. Shaw has captained Mumbai in domestic cricket and has helped them win Vijay Hazare Trophy along with taking them to the final of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season. He also won the 2018 edition of U-19 World Cup as the captain of the side.
