Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni’s participation in CSK’s home game on April 3 against the Lucknow Super Giants is in doubt as the wicket-keeper batter looked in a lot of pain after landing awkwardly on his knee during the opening match of IPL 2023.
CSK coach Stephen Fleming recently confirmed that while Dhoni was dealing with an injured knee during the preseason, what happened during the match against GT was merely due to cramps.
“He was always playing. Not sure where that story came from. He was nursing a sore knee throughout the month of pre-season, but today it was just cramps, it wasn’t the knee. He’s not going to be as quick and nimble as he was 15 years ago, but he is still a great leader of the side and, even with the bat, he is still going to play a part. He knows his limitations and he is a valuable player to have on the field. He is a legend,” Fleming said.
Thousands of fans stood in line for hours to buy the tickets for the CSK vs LSG match on April 3 as CSK would play their first home game in nearly three years at the Chepauk Stadium. However, this news has increased their concerns and they will be hoping that Dhoni gets fit before the game on Monday.
