Krishnamachari Srikkanth has praised Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni for his leadership ability to inspire trust in his squad. By giving confidence to his players, unloved or ignored, they have become star performers for CSK. Players such as Ajinkya Rahane have shown their best cricket under Dhoni’s guidance, proving that his captaincy style is a superb blend of tactical knowledge and excellent man-management abilities.
Dhoni’s trust in his squad has helped to resurrect the careers of players like Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu, who had gone unnoticed by other clubs during the IPL auctions. Rahane, who played just twice for Delhi Capitals in 2021 and seven times for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, also hadn’t reached 50 in the competition since November 2020.

CSK signed Rahane for INR 50 lakh in the auction, and he has since scored 138 runs in 4 innings with an impressive strike rate of 187.57. His ability to score quickly was showcased with a 19-ball fifty, the second-fastest half-century of the season.

Srikkanth cites Rahane as an example of MS Dhoni and CSK, saying, “MS Dhoni trusts his teammates, and that is the reason he backs them to give their best. There are many such case studies, and the latest one is that of Ajinkya Rahane.”
Dhoni’s decision-making and field presence have also contributed to his squad’s success. Srikkanth believes that Dhoni’s outstanding leadership and commitment to the sport have played a significant role in transforming players and helping his team win.
