Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has suggested that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) should push Andre Russell up the order in their upcoming game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that KKR must not demote Russell to number eight in the batting order, as they did in a few matches before.
Russell has been struggling in IPL 2023, having only scored 98 runs in six innings with a slow strike rate of 140. He did take three wickets in one match, but also looked like he injured himself while bowling. Chopra believes that Russell should bat higher up the order to have more time to settle and score runs.

Chopra also suggested that KKR should play a foreign fast bowler in the match, either Lockie Ferguson or Tim Southee, to strengthen their pace attack.
However, Chopra picked CSK as the favorites to win their match against KKR. He claimed that CSK has no major issue to address, and all aspects of the team seem to be firing. Their relatively weak pace attack will be helped by the seaming tracks of Kolkata, while the spin-friendly pitches will allow Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, and Maheesh Theekshana to shine.

KKR is currently languishing at the bottom of the table, having lost their last three matches. In contrast, CSK won their last two matches and are looking to climb to the top of the league table with a win. The two sides come into the contest in vastly different forms and mindsets.
The upcoming game between KKR and CSK will be held at the Eden Gardens on April 23, and KKR will be looking to break their ongoing rut in form with a win.
