IPL 2023 | CSK vs RCB: Kedar Jadhav wants to see Ruturaj Gaikwad as a consistent player for India post 2023 World Cup

The former Chennai Super Kings player praises Gaikwad's talent and calls for his regular selection in the Indian cricket team, while endorsing him as the best option to succeed MS Dhoni as captain of CSK.

Kedar Jadhav, the veteran Indian all-rounder, has recently voiced his support for Ruturaj Gaikwad, backing the young batsman for a consistent run in the Indian cricket team after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Gaikwad has been in fantastic form in the 2023 Indian Premier League, and Jadhav believes that he is a promising young talent who can dominate in international cricket across all formats.

Gaikwad, who hails from Maharashtra, has been a consistent performer for his domestic team across all three formats for the past few years. In the current IPL season, he is currently fourth on the orange cap list, having scored 197 runs from four matches with an impressive average of 65.67 and a strike rate of 155.11.

Kedar Jadhav, an IPL expert and commentator on JioCinema, praised Gaikwad’s performances in domestic cricket and the IPL, saying, “Ruturaj is a very quality player, and I feel after the World Cup, he should get consistent chances, the way he has performed across formats, be it Ranji Trophy or T20s with the IPL. I do think he is a promising young talent.”

Jadhav also believes that Gaikwad is the best option as the Chennai Super Kings’ captain after MS Dhoni retires, as he is a strong candidate to succeed him. Jadhav added that while Ben Stokes is also a contender to lead the side, his availability is a major concern. Jadhav represented the Chennai-based franchise from 2018 to 2020, and he believes that Gaikwad has the potential to lead the team in the future.

Gaikwad made his debut for the Indian team following his impressive performances in IPL 2021, where he won the orange cap and scored 635 runs in 16 matches, playing a crucial role in helping his franchise win their fourth title in the mega tournament in 2020. He has represented India in nine T20Is and one ODI match, scoring 135 and 19 runs, respectively.
