IPL 2023: Explained– Why was Harshal Patel’s run-out appeal at non-striker’s end rejected by the umpire?

Harshal tried to Mankad Bishnoi, but in the first attempt, he missed the ball hitting the stumps, after which he tried to run out Bishnoi by throwing in the second attempt.

Cricket is a game of uncertainties. In the match between KKR and GT, Rinku Singh did a miracle by hitting 5 sixes off the last 5 balls of the last over, while in the next match, a miracle happened with the Lucknow Supergiants team, which surprised everyone. In the match, Lucknow needed only 5 runs to win in the last over. Lucknow had a chance to win the match but Harshal Patel, who came to bowl the last over, created a chance for Bangalore.

Harshal failed to ‘Mankad’ Bishnoi

Before the last ball, there was a conversation between Faf and the bowler. After this Harshal went to bowl. Bishnoi was at the non-striker’s end, while Avesh Khan was at the striker’s end. In such a situation, Harshal showed cleverness and tried to Mankad Bishnoi, but in the first attempt, he missed the ball hitting the stumps, after which he tried to run out Bishnoi by throwing in the second attempt. The ball hit the stumps, but the appeal for out was rejected by the umpire.
