IPL 2023: Joe Root to play at number three for Rajasthan Royals

In order to add more stability and versatility to Rajasthan Royals middle order Joe Root to play at number three in IPL 2023.

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is gearing up, there is a buzz in the cricket world about the Rajasthan Royals’ strategic move of including Joe Root in their team. Root is a well-known English cricketer who is set to play at number three for the Rajasthan Royals.

Joe Root

Although Root has played only a few T20Is, his performance has been commendable with an average of 35.72 and a strike rate of 126.30. With his vast experience of playing 88 domestic T20 games, Root has scored 2083 runs in 80 innings at an average of 32.54 and a strike rate of 126.70. Additionally, Root is also a valuable off-spinner who can provide an extra option to the skipper in the bowling department.

Root’s adaptability to any game situation will prove beneficial to the team. In case the openers Buttler and Padikkal fail to get going, Root could provide the necessary stability in the middle overs. The team’s batting order will start with Buttler and Padikkal opening, followed by Root at number three, and Samson at number four.

Root’s inclusion in the Rajasthan Royals squad will strengthen the team’s middle order, which has been lacking in the past. The team has released Daryl Mitchell, Rassie van der Dussen, and James Neesham before the auction, and Root’s presence will fill the gap.

Apart from stabilizing the innings, Root’s presence will help the team to score runs at a quick pace in the death overs. Root’s addition to the team will provide a boost to Rajasthan Royals’ batting department, and his performance in the upcoming IPL will be closely watched by cricket enthusiasts.
