Former India Cricketer Praises KKR Spinner's Topspin and Googlies, Urges him to Keep Up the Good Work in IPL 2023

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has touted Kolkata Knight Riders’ spinner Varun Chakravarthy as a potential contender for the Indian squad in the ODI World Cup 2023. Sehwag made the comments after the right-arm spinner put up an impressive performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023.

Chakravarthy clinched four wickets for just 15 runs in 3.4 overs, including the crucial wickets of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Speaking to Cricbuzz after the match, Sehwag praised Chakravarthy’s impressive bowling performance and stated that a great season in the IPL could propel him into the reckoning for the Indian squad in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Sehwag further added that while Chakravarthy doesn’t have the ball that goes away like a proper wrist spinner, he primarily relies on topspin and googlies, which worked effectively against RCB’s batsmen.
