Afghanistan’s young fast-bowler Naveen-ul-Haq shared his insights on the pitch conditions at the newly built Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow ahead of the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings.

Despite the widespread criticism of the pitch, Naveen-ul-Haq had a different take on the situation, highlighting that the black soil on the pitch provides more assistance for cutters and slower balls, while red soil offers more bounce. As a fast bowler, he emphasized the importance of understanding the difference between the two types of soil and adjusting accordingly.

This is Naveen-ul-Haq’s first time playing franchise cricket in India, and he credited his experience of playing in different conditions for helping him perform well for the team. He also hoped that the team would score more runs, especially when chasing a target, and chase down the target if they are batting second in the game against Chennai Super Kings.

Naveen-ul-Haq’s comments suggest that bowlers can still extract some assistance from the pitch despite its slow and low-scoring nature, which is a refreshing perspective in a high-scoring tournament like IPL. His experience of playing in different conditions will also come in handy for the team, as they look to build on their decent start to the IPL 2023 campaign.

As fans eagerly await the upcoming match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Chennai Super Kings, Naveen-ul-Haq’s insights on the pitch conditions add an exciting dimension to the game. It will be interesting to see how the bowlers adapt to the pitch and if the Lucknow Super Giants can improve their batting performance and score the runs needed to win the game.
