IPL 2023 | MI vs DC: Cameron Green ready to bat anywhere to help Mumbai Indians secure victory against Delhi Capitals

Young Australian all-rounder discusses his flexibility and determination to contribute in a must-win clash against the Delhi Capitals

As the Mumbai Indians gear up to take on the Delhi Capitals in a crucial IPL match, all eyes will be on Cameron Green, the young Australian all-rounder who has struggled to make an impact in the tournament so far. Green, who was picked up for a whopping INR 17.50 crores by MI, has batted at number three in the first two games of the season, but has failed to score big.

However, Green is ready to put in the hard yards and bat wherever the team requires him to. “I’m absolutely happy to bat wherever the coach wants me to,” he said in a media interaction in Delhi on Monday. He also emphasized that he is willing to bat at number three with the same intent as an opener.

Green’s impressive performances for Australia in the T20I series against India last year caught the eye of the MI management, and they invested heavily in him. However, the pressure of living up to his price tag may have affected his performance. With MI currently placed ninth on the IPL 2023 points table, a win against the Delhi Capitals is crucial, and Green’s versatility could be the key to unlocking their batting potential.

The young all-rounder has shown his ability to score quick runs at the top of the order, with back-to-back fifties in the T20I series against India. Mumbai Indians will hope that he can replicate that form in the IPL and help them bounce back from their two consecutive losses.

The Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, will be looking to get their first win as well after their shameful defeat against over Rajasthan Royals. They currently sit at the bottom of the points table, and a win against MI could see them climb up the ladder. As the two teams clash in what promises to be a high-octane encounter, all eyes will be on Cameron Green, who could prove to be the X-factor in MI’s quest for a much-needed win.
