MS Dhoni has been with Chennai Super Kings from the starting of Indian Premier League. He has helped this team win four titles in the tournament so far. It is speculated that Dhoni would bid goodbye to cricket after this season of IPL. He is expected to take retirement and settle into a coaching role for the Chennai Super Kings.

Ben Stokes was bought at a huge price in IPL 2023 by Chennai Super Kings. He was looked at as the most promising candidate for the captaincy of CSK after Dhoni’s retirement. However, the recent reports suggest that CSK has decided not to include Stokes in the captaincy plan.

Recently, Ben Stokes announced that Test cricket is the most important format for him and he will leave IPL during the playoffs stage to prepare for the Ashes which is scheduled to be played in June this year.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja are the two players who are expected to captain CSK from 2024. One of them would be appointed as the flag bearer of CSK after Dhoni’s retirement.
