Mithali Raj, the former Indian cricketer, recently praised Virat Kohli’s match-winning knock against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter, played an exceptional inning that helped his side win their third game of the season. Kohli scored 50 runs in 34 balls and smashed six fours and one six in his innings, with a strike rate of 147. He also received the Player of the Match award for his exceptional knock.
Mithali Raj was impressed by the way Kohli set the momentum for the team and charged against the bowlers. She also pointed out that his good form would instill confidence in others as well. Speaking to Star Sports, Raj said, “An opener setting the momentum for the team is important in T20s and Virat did just that against Delhi Capitals. Virat charges against the bowlers who are bowling at a speed of 140/150 kmph. He’s never bogged down by the bowlers. The strike rate with which he’s scoring runs in the middle will give the confidence to the other batters to do well when they step in.”

Kohli himself spoke about his knock and said that he backed himself to hit good shots. He also discussed how they let slip away the last two games. “We did well to get to that score and had the belief it was enough. When I’ve played my best cricket, those are the balls I’ve put away consistently. When I put away their best balls, it puts pressure on the bowlers. We kind of let it slip away last two games. That was a different mentality and phase altogether (T20 WC 2016 semis). I back myself to hit good shots. When they come off, they look good.”
RCB will next take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday (17th April) at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli’s impressive form will undoubtedly give the team confidence heading into the game. Overall, Kohli’s exceptional knock and Mithali Raj’s high praise for the RCB captain have undoubtedly made headlines and sparked excitement among cricket fans.
