IPL 2023: Shane Watson reveals how Delhi Capitals can make their home ground a fortress in upcoming IPL edition

Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson talks about the team's potential and strategy for the upcoming IPL season, and how they plan to utilize the home ground conditions to their advantage.

Former Australian all-rounder and Delhi Capitals (DC) assistant coach Shane Watson believes that Delhi has the perfect team to take advantage of the conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the upcoming IPL 2023 season.

Shane Watson was appointed as the Assistant Coach of Delhi Capitals Ahead of IPL 2023

Watson is particularly excited about the slow pitch at the stadium, which he believes will work in favor of world-class spinners like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Additionally, the small boundaries will provide an advantage to Delhi’s explosive batters, making it easier for them to hit the ball out of the park.

In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, the official broadcasters of IPL 2023, Watson emphasized the importance of winning all home games in the upcoming IPL season. “In any IPL, you do have to make your home ground a fortress,” he said.

Watson also spoke about DC’s captaincy dilemma, with regular skipper Rishabh Pant out of the tournament due to a car accident. While David Warner has taken over as captain, Watson admitted that Pant’s absence would be a massive blow. Despite this setback, Watson remains optimistic about Delhi’s chances, stating that the team has a skilled squad that can put in consistent performances.

Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2023 campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 1. With Watson’s guidance and the wealth of talent at their disposal, Delhi will be hoping to make their home ground a fortress and go all the way in the upcoming IPL season.
