IPL 2023: Virat Kohli fined Rs 24 lakh, 25 percent of the match fee deducted from other players for maintaining slow over-rate

Virat Kohli, the acting captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has led the team to victory in two consecutive matches. He captained Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals after 18 months in the IPL. However, bad news has come for Kohli. Virat has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the IPL match against Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (April 23). 

This time the fine has been imposed not only on the captain of the team, but also on the entire team. Kohli has been fined Rs 24 lakh. At the same time, other players of RCB have also been punished by deducting 25 percent of their match fee. The team has done this for the second time in the season.

A fine of Rs 24 lakh has been imposed on Virat and Rs 6 lakh each, or 25 percent of the match, on other players of the playing-11, including the impact player. RCB captain Faf Duplessis was fined after the loss against Lucknow Supergiants. Due to the second mistake of the team, this time a big penalty has been imposed. Now if the team commits this mistake once again, then the captain may be banned for one or more matches. In such a situation, if Virat captains in the upcoming match, then he will have to be careful, otherwise he can get a big punishment.

RCB will be playing their next game against KKR on April 26.
