Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings faced each other in a close encounter on April 17. However, it was Dhoni’s CSK who emerged victorious in the clash. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell gave CSK a real scare before the four-time IPL champions emerged victorious.
But fans were more interested in the reunion between Dhoni and Kohli after the match as it could be the last union between them in the cash-rich league. Both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni were seen having a long friendly conversation with each other after the match.
Virat Kohli recently posted a pic of him hugging MS Dhoni after the match on his social media handles. The caption wrote: ❤️+💛=🇮🇳
Kohli was India’s vice-captain under Dhoni’s leadership and both are known to share a close bond. Dhoni played under Kohli’s captaincy for India for a couple of years before his retirement, including in India’s run to the 2017 Champions Trophy final and the 2019 World Cup semi-final.
Last year, after the India-Pakistan Asia Cup tie in the Asia Cup, Kohli revealed that Dhoni was the only one who approached him after he left Test captaincy.

“I can tell you one thing… when I left Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person, with whom I have played previously – MS Dhoni. Many people have my number. On TV, lots of people give suggestions, but whoever had my number, no one texted. When you have a genuine connection with someone, it shows because you’re never insecure about each other.
“When I’ve to say something to someone, I reach out to the person individually, even if it’s to help them. If you say it in front of the entire world, that has no value to me. If it’s for my improvement, you can talk to me one-on-one. I live my life with honesty, so these things matter to me. As long as I am worthy of playing for the country, that’s how I will play,” said Kohli.
