Rajasthan Royals batted first and started brilliantly with Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal taking the centre stage with the bat. However, both Padikkal and Buttler were dismissed in the middle overs and Royals lost the plot for a bit. In the end, Shimron Hetmyer’s flurry with the bat made Rajasthan score a good fighting total of 175 runs.

Jos Buttler scored 52 off 36, Padikkal managed 88 and both Hetmyer and Ashwin scored 30 runs each in the game. For Chennai Super Kings, Ravindra Jadeja was exceptional with the ball. He took 2 wickets by giving away just 21 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

At last, CSK required 54 in the last three overs with MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease. They smashed Adam Zampa and Jason Holder in the 18th and the 19th over and brought the equation down to 21 off the last over. Sandeep Sharma held his nerve when MS Dhoni hit him for two sixes in the final over. He managed to defend 7 runs off the last three balls to ultimately win the game by 3 runs for the Rajasthan Royals.
