Chennai Super Kings (CSK) announced on Wednesday that Ben Stokes, the versatile English all-rounder, won’t be partaking in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) edition. The decision is rooted in Stokes’ commitment to workload management and maintaining peak fitness.
Despite joining CSK for the triumphant IPL 2023, the 32-year-old, also England’s Test captain, has chosen to sit out IPL 2024 to prioritize his physical well-being. CSK’s management stands behind Stokes, recognizing the significance of managing his workload, especially with England engaged in a 5-Test series in India preceding the IPL and the T20 World Cup in June 2024.

With Stokes not available Chennai Super Kings would look to fill the void in the middle order by finding a good buy in the upcoming IPL 2024 Auction on 19th December in Dubai.
Dary Mitchell, the Kiwi all-rounder could be on the radar of Chennai Super Kings in the auction. Rachin Ravindra, Travis Head and Gerald Coetzee are also expected to be in the contention of replacing Ben Stokes for CSK in IPL 2024. The auction will certainly be interesting as the teams are looking to revamp their squads.
