South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius has bid farewell to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, as confirmed in his heartfelt Instagram post on November 26. After two seasons with the franchise, CSK has decided to release the experienced campaigner.
A Glance at Pretorius’s IPL Performance
CSK acquired Pretorius at his base price of Rs. 50 lakh during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Despite not being a consistent presence in the playing XI, the Men in Yellow retained him for the 2023 season. Over the course of two seasons, Pretorius participated in seven games, securing six wickets at an economy rate of 9.52. He also contributed 44 runs with the bat.
Pretorius Expresses Gratitude in Instagram Note
In a sincere Instagram post, the 34-year-old expressed his gratitude to CSK teammates and the management. Pretorius said, “Thank you CSK. I would like to thank all the management, coaches, players, and fans for my time at CSK; it was an awesome experience. All the best for season 2024.” With his departure from CSK, Pretorius is now poised to enter the auction pool for the 2024 edition.
