Gautam Gambhir, the former opening batter and most successful captain in Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) history, is set to return to the franchise after a six-year hiatus, but in a new role as a mentor for the upcoming IPL season. Gambhir, who led KKR to victories in 2012 and 2014, expressed his emotional connection to the team, noting the significance of donning the purple and gold jersey again.

Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of KKR, acknowledged the absence of Gambhir in recent seasons and welcomed him back, emphasizing the anticipation for Gambhir and Chandu Sir to instill the never-say-die spirit and sportsmanship in the team.
