Shreyas Iyer, the captain who led his team to victory in IPL 2024, will be featured in the first marquee list of the upcoming IPL auction set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah. With Kolkata Knight Riders unable to retain him due to the lack of an RTM card, Iyer is expected to join a new franchise. Here are three teams that might pursue him in the auction:

    1. Delhi Capitals

With Rishabh Pant no longer part of the team, Delhi Capitals may be searching for a new leader. Shreyas Iyer, a former captain who once led them to an IPL final, could be the perfect fit. His skills as a reliable Indian middle-order batter make him an attractive prospect. Additionally, Iyer’s proficiency in handling spin bowling would be a crucial asset in the middle overs.

    2. Punjab Kings

Entering the auction with the largest purse, Punjab Kings are in a familiar position but face the challenge of revamping their squad, having retained only two uncapped players. While the franchise is likely to target Pant as a priority, they have the budget to pursue another marquee name like Shreyas Iyer, who could provide strength and experience to their middle order.

    3. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

With Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar forming a formidable Indian duo at the top, Royal Challengers Bengaluru is reportedly interested in reacquiring KL Rahul. However, if they fail to secure Rahul, Shreyas Iyer would be an excellent alternative. Unlike Rahul, who has primarily played as an opener, Iyer’s presence would bring stability to RCB’s middle order, enhancing their batting lineup’s depth and consistency.
