IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Highest-Paid Indian Players in IPL History

The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is set to be a thrilling event, with 574 players up for grabs over two days, November 24 and 25, in Jeddah. This auction will be a key moment for all 10 IPL teams as they look to rebuild and strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

The list of players includes star Indian cricketers like wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul, as well as IPL 2024-winning captain Shreyas Iyer. Prominent pacers Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh are also expected to draw significant attention. Indian players have historically dominated mega auctions, with five of the top six most expensive purchases being Indian stars. Given the marquee players on offer this year, some of these records could be broken, especially with certain franchises carrying large budgets.

Past Mega Auction High-Value Signings

  • Ishan Kishan (Rs 15.25 crore, 2022): Mumbai Indians secured Ishan Kishan for a record Rs 15.25 crore in the 2022 mega auction, the highest-ever bid at the time. His reputation as a powerful wicketkeeper-batter and his key role in MI’s 2020 title win made him a valuable asset.

  • Yuvraj Singh (Rs 14 crore, 2014): Royal Challengers Bangalore paid Rs 14 crore for Yuvraj Singh in 2014, following his legendary performances in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. Yuvraj scored 376 runs and took five wickets for RCB that season before moving to Delhi Capitals for Rs 16 crore the following year.

  • Dinesh Karthik (Rs 12.50 crore, 2014): After impressive performances with Mumbai Indians, Dinesh Karthik was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 12.50 crore in 2014. However, he struggled to meet expectations, scoring just 325 runs in 14 matches.

  • Ben Stokes (Rs 12.50 crore, 2018): Rajasthan Royals snapped up English all-rounder Ben Stokes for Rs 12.50 crore in 2018, following his standout performances with Rising Pune Supergiant.
