Rules for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Looking back at the major auction in 2022, a total of 204 players were bid on. The total price of these 204 players was reported to be 551 crores. Due to the increasing popularity of IPL and cricket, the number of players in the 2025 mega auction could be even higher. According to chairman Arun Dhumal, each team will be allowed to retain 3-4 players.
A franchise can buy a maximum of 25 players, out of which 8 can be foreign players, but only 4 of these 8 can be included in the playing eleven. As a result, many teams’ squads could be completely changed. Following the successful organization of the T20 World Cup 2024, it is also possible that players from the USA and several other countries might participate in the auction.
