The 18th season of IPL 2025 was suddenly halted due to rising border tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to the cancellation of the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match. Now, after a nine-day break, the league is set to resume on Saturday, May 17. Only 13 matches remain in the league stage, and the race to the playoffs is about to heat up once again.
Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already been eliminated from the tournament. However, they still have matches left, and those games could impact the points table and potentially ruin another team’s playoff hopes. As the league enters this thrilling phase, every match will now be like a final. The battle for a top 4 spot is intense.

MI vs DC – Key Clash for Top 4
Mumbai Indians currently hold the fourth spot with 14 points and an impressive Net Run Rate of +1.156. They have two crucial matches left — one against Delhi Capitals on May 21 and another against Punjab Kings in Jaipur. Delhi still has three games left to play — against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings — giving them a slight cushion. If DC can win at least two of those, they can potentially knock MI out of the top four.
KKR & LSG – Slim Chances, But Not Out Yet
Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants still have faint hopes. KKR is in sixth place with 11 points from 12 matches, while LSG has 10 points from 11 games. Both teams must win all their remaining matches and hope for losses from Delhi or Mumbai to have any chance of reaching the playoffs.
