Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured their first victory in IPL 2025 by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 runs in the 11th match of the season. However, despite this win, RR’s stand-in captain Riyan Parag has been fined.
The fine was imposed on Parag due to a slow over-rate. As a result, he will have to pay a ₹12 lakh penalty. The match, played in Guwahati on Sunday, saw Nitish Rana’s explosive 81 off 36 balls and Wanindu Hasaranga’s four-wicket haul, helping Rajasthan secure the win.
Nitish smashed 10 fours and 5 sixes, guiding RR to a total of 182/9. In response, CSK, who have failed to chase a 180+ total since 2019, once again fell short, managing only 176/6 in 20 overs.

An IPL statement confirmed, “Under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Minimum Over Rate Offenses, this was the team’s first violation of the season. As a result, Riyan Parag has been fined ₹12 lakh.”
After losing their opening match to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals will now face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur on April 5.
