Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the full schedule of IPL 2025. According to a report by Sports Tak, BCCI is expected to release the complete schedule next week, possibly before the start of the Champions Trophy. Some reports claim that the IPL might begin on March 21, while the final is expected to take place on May 25.
Final Likely to be Held in Kolkata
Two teams will play some of their home matches at different venues. Delhi Capitals will play two of their home matches in Visakhapatnam, while Rajasthan Royals will also play two matches at an alternate venue, which is yet to be decided. Reports suggest that the first two playoff matches will be hosted at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Eden Gardens in Kolkata is expected to host the second playoff match as well as the final.
ICC Rules to Be Implemented
A significant change in IPL 2025 is that the league will now follow ICC’s code of conduct regulations. Previously, IPL had its own set of rules, but from this season onwards, it will adhere to ICC’s global T20 league standards. Additionally, the Impact Player rule will continue this season. Last year, this rule sparked controversy, with players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli speaking against it.
Mega Auction Held in November
Before IPL 2025, a mega auction was conducted in November in Saudi Arabia. Rishabh Pant made history by becoming the most expensive player in IPL auction history, being bought for ₹27 crore. He will play for Lucknow Super Giants in the new season. Following him, Shreyas Iyer (₹26.75 crore) and Venkatesh Iyer (₹23.75 crore) were among the highest-paid players. Shreyas Iyer has also been appointed as the new captain of Punjab Kings.
