So far, 54 matches have been played in IPL 2025. Only two teams – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) – have been officially eliminated. No team has yet secured a confirmed place in the playoffs, and the fight for the top four spots is still alive among eight teams.

Historically, in the last 17 seasons, no team with 16 points has ever failed to qualify for the playoffs. So, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is almost certain to qualify. However, the race for the remaining three spots is still wide open among seven teams. Here’s a look at the updated points table and what each team needs to qualify:

    Points Table After Match 54

    Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

    • Matches Played: 11
    • Points: 16
    • NRR: 0.482
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs LSG (Away), vs SRH (Home), vs KKR (Home)

RCB is currently on top of the table after a win against CSK. While five teams can still reach 18 points, RCB needs two more wins to ensure qualification. If results go in their favour, they may qualify with 16 points. With two home games at Chinnaswamy remaining, they’ll be hoping for a bit of toss luck, having lost five tosses in a row at home.

    Punjab Kings (PBKS)

    • Matches Played: 11
    • Points: 15
    • NRR: 0.376
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs DC (Home), vs MI (Home), vs RR (Away)

Punjab jumped to second after defeating LSG. Two more wins should secure a playoff spot. If they lose all three, their fate will depend on other teams’ results.

    Gujarat Titans (GT)

    • Matches Played: 10
    • Points: 14
    • NRR: 0.867
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs MI (Away), vs DC (Away), vs LSG (Home), vs CSK (Home)

With four matches left and a strong NRR, GT is in a strong position. Winning most of their remaining games can even put them in the top two. Their home record against CSK and LSG is 4-1, giving them a clear edge.

    Mumbai Indians (MI)

    • Matches Played: 11
    • Points: 14
    • NRR: 1.124
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs GT (Home), vs PBKS (Away), vs DC (Home)

After six straight wins, MI is back in form. With the best NRR among all teams, they can qualify even with 14 points, depending on other outcomes. However, they have a solid chance to reach 18 points and possibly a top-two finish. They’ve won 4 of 5 home games this season.

    Delhi Capitals (DC)

    • Matches Played: 10
    • Points: 12
    • NRR: 0.362
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs SRH (Away), vs PBKS (Away), vs GT (Home), vs MI (Away)

DC started strong but lost momentum. With four matches left (three away), they’ll aim to reach at least 16 points. Even with 14, they may still qualify if other results go their way.

    Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

    • Matches Played: 11
    • Points: 11
    • NRR: 0.249
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs CSK (Home), vs SRH (Away), vs RCB (Away)

Sunday’s win against RR kept KKR alive. The maximum they can reach is 17 points. Their qualification is not guaranteed even if they win all remaining games. Losing even one could make their path very tough.

    Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

    • Matches Played: 11
    • Points: 10
    • NRR: -0.469
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs RCB (Home), vs GT (Away), vs SRH (Home)

Three consecutive losses have dented LSG’s chances. Even with three wins, they’ll reach 16 points – which may not be enough due to their poor NRR. They’ll also need other teams to lose.

    Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

    • Matches Played: 10
    • Points: 6
    • NRR: -1.192
    • Remaining Fixtures: vs DC (Home), vs KKR (Home), vs RCB (Away), vs LSG (Away)

Even if SRH win all their remaining four games, they can only reach 14 points. To have a chance, they’ll need multiple other teams to lose consistently and improve their terrible NRR.
