A three-match T20 International series is currently being played between England and West Indies. The first match took place at Chester-le-Street, where hosts England defeated West Indies by 21 runs. Earlier, England had already clean swept West Indies in the three-match ODI series. Now, England has made a strong start to the T20 series as well. In this match, Jos Buttler played a brilliant innings. Although he missed out on a century, he put his team in a strong position.
Talking about the match, England captain Harry Brook won the toss and opted to bat first. Initially, this decision didn’t seem to be working well, as England lost their first wicket in just the second over. However, West Indies had to wait long for the second breakthrough, by which time England had already built a solid platform.
Jos Buttler scored 96 runs off 59 balls, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 162.71. Jamie Smith contributed 38 runs off 20 balls, while Jacob Bethell added 23 runs off 23 balls. For West Indies, Romario Shepherd picked up two wickets. England finished their innings at 188/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing a target of 189 runs, West Indies started steadily but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Except for Evin Lewis, none of the Caribbean batters were able to accelerate the scoring, which ultimately cost them the match. West Indies could only manage 167/9 in their 20 overs and lost by 21 runs. Liam Dawson bowled superbly, taking four wickets, while Matthew Potts and Jacob Bethell took two wickets each. Evin Lewis was the top scorer for West Indies with a knock of 39 runs off 23 balls.
