There are two matches scheduled in the Indian Premier League 2025 on Tuesday. Typically, double-headers in the IPL are held over the weekend on Saturdays and Sundays. While Sundays usually feature two matches, last Sunday (April 6) did not, which is why two matches are scheduled for Tuesday instead. The first match of the day will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Why Was the KKR vs LSG Match Rescheduled?
Originally, the KKR vs LSG game was set to take place on Sunday, April 6. However, due to Ram Navami, the Kolkata police expressed their inability to provide security for the match. As a result, the game was rescheduled to Tuesday, April 8.
Eden Gardens Pitch – What to Expect
In cricket, the pitch plays a crucial role in determining the outcome of the game. All eyes will be on the surface at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Traditionally, this pitch has been batting-friendly, and another high-scoring encounter is expected. In fact, the two matches played here so far this season have witnessed good totals, with at least one crossing the 200-run mark.
However, spinners cannot be ignored on this pitch. It tends to assist spin as the game progresses. That’s why KKR often goes with a spin-heavy attack. They have quality spinners like Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy, who know how to extract the best from this surface. Lucknow’s batters will have to be cautious while facing them.

Will LSG Struggle on This Pitch?
LSG does have the firepower to counter the conditions. Their batting lineup includes big hitters like Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, and Nicholas Pooran. On the bowling front, they have talented spinners like Ravi Bishnoi and Digvijay Rathi, the latter having already troubled many batters this season. If LSG can adapt well, they too can take advantage of the surface.
