Kohli Targets Another Tendulkar Record, Ashwin Aims for Kumble’s Milestone: Key Records Indian Veterans Could Break in Bangladesh Series

India’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh marks their return to red-ball cricket after a six-month break. This series kicks off a busy period of 10 Test matches for India, and some of the team’s most experienced players are poised to achieve major career milestones. Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rohit Sharma are all on the verge of rewriting records that reflect their longstanding contributions to Indian cricket.

Virat Kohli, the former India captain, is just one century away from joining Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar in the elite club of Indian cricketers with 30 Test centuries. A century in this series would also put Kohli on par with the legendary Don Bradman. Additionally, Kohli is only 58 runs away from reaching 27,000 international runs, potentially becoming the fastest player to reach this milestone, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, who did it in 623 innings. Kohli has played 591 innings so far.

Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s premier Test spinner, is only three wickets short of surpassing Courtney Walsh’s career tally of 519 Test wickets. If Ashwin manages an extraordinary haul of 22 wickets in the two-match series, he will match Anil Kumble’s record for the most international wickets taken on Indian soil. Ashwin’s ability to deliver match-winning performances makes this feat within reach.

Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, is on the brink of joining the exclusive club of Indian cricketers with 3000 Test runs and 300 wickets. Jadeja has taken 294 wickets in 72 Tests at an average of 24.13 and has scored 3036 Test runs with an average of 36.14. He would be only the third Indian, after Kapil Dev and Ashwin, to achieve this impressive all-rounder milestone.

Rohit Sharma, India’s captain and top Test opener, is seven sixes away from surpassing Virender Sehwag’s record for the most sixes hit by an Indian in Test cricket. Sehwag’s record stands at 91 sixes, and Rohit could potentially break it during this series. Additionally, Rohit is two centuries short of reaching 50 international tons, having scored 48 centuries across all formats so far. This would make him the third Indian, after Tendulkar and Kohli, to achieve this landmark.
