LATEST! Asia Cup 2023 Final Relocated Due to Rain

Asia Cup final shifted from Colombo

The final match of the Asia Cup 2023 may be relocated from Colombo due to persistent heavy rain in the Sri Lankan capital. Instead, it is anticipated to take place on September 17th in Kandy, specifically at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, Kandy.

A decision regarding this venue change is expected to be made on Monday, September 11th. The ongoing heavy rain in Colombo, which led to the India-Pakistan Super Four match being pushed to the Reserve Day, increases the likelihood of a complete washout, as more heavy rain is forecasted even on the Reserve Day.

What’s happening in Colombo?

As the Asia Cup Super Four clash between India and Pakistan at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium heads towards the reserve day, concerns loom due to adverse weather conditions. Heavy rains drenched Colombo at 7 AM on the reserve day, and the sky remains overcast. Furthermore, the on-field conditions have deteriorated, with visible wet patches at the stadium. The prospect of additional rain poses a risk of exacerbating these issues, potentially leading to further delays or even the abandonment of the match without any play.
