Players were auctioned in Delhi on 29 August for Legends League Cricket 2024 dedicated to retired cricketers. During the auction, Sri Lanka’s Isuru Udana was sold for the highest price of INR 61.9 lakh. He was bought by the Hyderabad team. Stuart Binny, son of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Roger Binny and the one who made the record of taking 6 wickets for 4 runs in ODI International, was sold for INR 40 lakh.
Stuart Binny also became a part of the Hyderabad team. 97 players were bought in the auction. Dhawal Kulkarni became the most expensive Indian player. He was bought by India Capitals for INR 50 lakh. 6 teams will also participate in this edition of Legends League Cricket. These teams are Konark Suryas, India Capitals, Southern Superstars, Manipal Tigers, Hyderabad, Gujarat. The franchises of Hyderabad and Gujarat have not yet announced their names for this season.
6 teams will play 25 matches in this season of Legends Cricket League. The matches of Legends League Cricket 2024 will start from September 20. The final of the tournament will be played on October 16 at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. This will be the first time when a Legends League Cricket match will be played in Srinagar.
Apart from this, matches will be played in Jodhpur, Surat and Jammu. Manipal Tigers spent the highest amount of INR 7.59 crore in the auction. INR 40.225 lakh remained in its purse. Hyderabad, on the other hand, saved the maximum amount of INR 2.72 crore in its purse. It bought 13 players for INR 5.27 crore.
