Lungisani True-man Ngidi, born on March 29, 1996, is a skilled South African professional cricketer who represents the South Africa national cricket team.
His exceptional talent and contributions to cricket were duly recognized when he received the prestigious honor of being named one of the five Cricketers of the Year at the 2018 South African Cricket Annual Awards.
Further emphasizing his prowess, in July 2020, Ngidi achieved dual recognition by being named both the ODI and T20I cricketer of the year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards ceremony.

Ngidi’s upbringing took place in Kloof, Durban, where he had humble beginnings. His mother worked as a domestic worker, and his father was employed as a maintenance worker at a local school. Despite the financial challenges, Ngidi’s talent shone through, earning him a scholarship to attend Highbury Preparatory School. Later on, he received another scholarship to Hilton College School. Lungi Ngidi’s father recently passed away.

During his initial years at Hilton, Ngidi showcased his athletic versatility by representing the school in rugby. However, he made a pivotal decision to shift his focus entirely to cricket. Throughout his time at Hilton, Ngidi had the privilege of being coached by former Zimbabwe all-rounder Neil Johnson.
Following his graduation from Hilton, Ngidi pursued higher education at the University of Pretoria, where he enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Industrial Sociology.
