Mitchell Starc: “That’s Less Than Your Prize Money,” Starc Shares a Funny Story from the IPL Final – Find Out More

Mitchell Starc, the most expensive player in IPL history and fast bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders, recently shared a funny story during an interview. He revealed that when the BCCI handed over the prize money check to his team, Angkrish Raghuvanshi teased him. Throughout the tournament, Starc struggled with his form, but in the final match, he delivered a lethal performance, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory.

In a recent interview, Starc shared a funny incident from the IPL final. He said that upon seeing the prize money check given by the BCCI, young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi made a humorous comment. Starc said, “The IPL final presentation started after midnight, which took away some of the excitement. After that, the winning team was given a check for 20 crores. Upon seeing the check, young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi joked, ‘That’s not even as much as you got.'”

Money Showered on Starc and Cummins

In the IPL 2024 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders bought Mitchell Starc for 24.75 crores, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. Additionally, Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins also received a hefty amount, being bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 20.50 crores. Under Cummins’ leadership, Hyderabad performed exceptionally well in the 17th season of the IPL.

Starc added, “Pat and I were given a good amount. We played the first match and then played the final nine weeks later. Suddenly, it turned out that the two most expensive players were playing in the IPL final.”

Starc’s Performance in the IPL

In the initial matches of IPL 2024, Starc was seen struggling. He proved to be quite expensive for Kolkata Knight Riders. However, in the knockout matches, he showcased his lethal bowling, contributing significantly to his team’s victory in the final. Throughout the season, Starc took a total of 17 wickets in 13 matches.
