Mujeeb Ur Rahman Zadran’s cricketing journey has been marked by numerous highlights:

He made his List A debut for Speen Ghar Region in the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament on August 10, 2017. Following this, he ventured into the Twenty20 format, making his debut for Boost Defenders in the 2017 Shpageeza Cricket League on September 11, 2017. His skills caught the attention of Comilla Victorians, who signed him for the 2017–18 Bangladesh Premier League season in November 2017.

In January 2018, he was acquired by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction. On April 8, 2018, at the age of 17 years and 11 days, he created history by becoming the youngest cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League, making a significant mark on the global T20 stage.

His international journey also led him to Hampshire County Cricket Club, where he was signed to play in the 2018 T20 Blast tournament in England in May 2018. In September 2018, he joined Nangarhar’s squad in the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League tournament. During the tournament, he emerged as the joint-leading wicket-taker for the Nangarhar Leopards, securing twelve dismissals in nine matches.

In February 2019, he extended his presence in English T20 cricket by signing with Middlesex County Cricket Club for the 2019 T20 Blast tournament. His T20 prowess led him to the Cumilla Warriors in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League, demonstrating his consistency across various leagues.

A significant milestone arrived on December 30, 2020, during the 2020–21 Big Bash League season when he achieved his first five-wicket haul in T20 cricket, claiming 5 for 15 while playing for the Brisbane Heat against the Hobart Hurricanes.

In February 2021, he was acquired by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League, marking another chapter in his IPL journey. It’s worth noting that his first Test wicket was none other than Cheteshwar Pujara.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s international contributions also extended to the Afghanistan national team. He was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019. Following the World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) recognized him as the rising star of the squad.

His continued success in T20 cricket led to his inclusion in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021. In Afghanistan’s first match of the tournament, against Scotland, Mujeeb achieved his first five-wicket haul in T20I cricket, securing five wickets for twenty runs. This remarkable feat also made him the first player to achieve a five-wicket haul on a T20 World Cup debut.
