However, they successfully mounted a comeback in the subsequent match, defeating Quetta Gladiators by nine wickets while chasing a 111-run goal.

In their debut matchup against Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi won by a slim margin of two runs to begin their season. The Zalmi reached 199/5 while batting first thanks to performances from English batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore (92 off 50) and newly appointed skipper Babar Azam (68 off 46). After that, James Neesham and Wahab Riaz each claimed two wickets to keep the Kings to 197/5.
