Mushfiqur Rahim, born on May 9, 1987, is a prominent cricketer from Bangladesh. He has served as both the captain and vice-captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team. Mushfiqur Rahim is recognized as a right-handed middle-order batsman and a wicket-keeper in the Bangladesh Cricket Team.

Mushfiqur Rahim, born on May 9, 1987, hails from Bogra, Bangladesh. His parents are Mahbub Habib and Rahima Khatun. He completed his secondary education at Bogra Zilla School. Alongside his cricketing pursuits, he pursued a degree in history at Jahangirnagar University. In 2012, he successfully completed his master’s degree examinations.
In 2014, Mushfiqur Rahim entered into wedlock with Jannatul Kifayet Mondi. Interestingly, Mondi is the sister of Jannatul Kawsar Mishti, the wife of Mahmudullah. In 2018, Mushfiqur Rahim and his wife were blessed with a son named Mayan.
Prior to his national team debut, Mushfiqur Rahim showcased his talent with the Bangladesh Under-19s. From 2004 to 2006, he represented them in three Youth Tests and 18 Youth One Day Internationals (ODIs), maintaining respectable averages of 31.75 and 36.00 with the bat in the respective formats. His early training took place at the Bangladesh Institute of Sports.
During the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup held in Sri Lanka, Mushfiqur Rahim assumed the captaincy of the Bangladesh side, which featured future international stars like Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, among others. Notably, he was one of only two players at the tournament with Test-match experience. Under his leadership, Bangladesh reached the quarter-finals of the competition.
In that same month, Mushfiqur Rahim received a recall to the senior Test squad, marking his return since the England tour in 2005. He was selected as a specialist batsman, while Khaled Mashud was chosen as the wicket-keeper for the series against Sri Lanka.
Mushfiqur Rahim faced criticism due to an incident during the eliminator match of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup. In this particular match, both Mushfiqur Rahim and his teammate, Nasum Ahmed, found themselves converging towards the same catch. Fortunately, they managed to avoid a collision, and Mushfiqur Rahim successfully secured the catch. However, his reaction was visibly agitated, and he even made a threat of physical confrontation towards his teammate.
A video capturing this incident quickly gained widespread attention on Twitter. Subsequently, Mushfiqur Rahim extended an apology to his teammate for his actions. To address this behavior, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took action by imposing a fine of 25% on Mushfiqur Rahim’s match fees and issuing one demerit point as a disciplinary measure.
