Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee Creates History- Hits 6 Sixes Twice in T20Is

Dipendra Singh Airee broke the records of Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard by becoming the first batters to smash 6 sixes twice in T20Is.

Nepali cricketer, Dipendra Singh Airee made history by hitting six consecutive sixes in an over during a T20I against Qatar in the ongoing ACC Premier Cup 2024. With this remarkable achievement, he joins India’s Yuvraj Singh and the West Indies’ Kieron Pollard as the only cricketers to have achieved this feat in T20 internationals.

Notably, Airee becomes the first player in T20I history to hit six sixes in six consecutive balls on two occasions. He achieved the same feat at the Asian Games 2023, when he smashed 6 sixes against Mongolia, even though over two overs.

Batting at No. 5, Airee scored an unbeaten 64 off only 21 deliveries, including seven sixes and three fours. His outstanding performance saw him hit six sixes in one over against Kamran Khan, propelling Nepal to a formidable total of 210/7 in 20 overs against Qatar. This achievement mirrored his previous success at the Asian Games 2023, when Nepal’s batters set three world records.

Airee made a significant contribution by scoring six consecutive fifties, the fastest T20I fifty in international cricket. Nepal’s dominance continued as they scored a massive 314/3 in their match against Mongolia, becoming the first team in history to accomplish such a feat.

Kushal Malla, a 19-year-old left-handed batter, scored 100 runs in 34 balls, the fastest T20I century ever. Malla’s remarkable innings saw him smash 12 sixes and eight fours to remain unbeaten on 137, breaking the previous joint record held by David Miller and Rohit Sharma, who both scored fifty runs in 35 balls. Batting at No. 3, he helped Nepal achieve their highest-ever T20I score of 314/3 against Mongolia, who chose to field.
