Hardik Pandya was named the captain of Indian Cricket Team in the T20 format after it was announced last year that Rohit Sharma would specifically focus on ODIs and Test Cricket. He is continuously leading the Team India in T20 formats but according to the latest news he is ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Australia.
Team India is scheduled to play a five match T20I series against Australia starting from 23rd November 2023. Hardik Pandya was earlier supposed to be the captain in the series but his injury has made him lose his spot in the squad. In the World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury and he is yet to recover from that.
Pandya was replaced in the Indian World Cup 2023 squad and is now also ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Australia. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to lead the men in blue. He recently captained the Indian Team in Asian Games and a series against Ireland.

Many senior players are expected to be rested for the T20I series and it will open up the spots for young talents like Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma and many others.
Team India’s squad is expected to be announced in this week. BCCI is expected to announce Rituraj Gaikwad as captain and VVS Laxman as the coach for the series. Rahul Dravid is also expected to be rested for the series.
