The original ICC ODI World Cup 2023 schedule had a much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match set for October 15 in Ahmedabad. However, there are plans to reschedule the fixture due to a conflict with the beginning of the Navaratri festival in the state. Given the significant importance and widespread celebration of Navaratri in Ahmedabad and Gujarat, security agencies have expressed concerns about potential logistical issues. Consequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking into restructuring the itinerary, even though tickets for this high-profile match have already been sold out.
According to a PTI report, the match is likely to be moved a day earlier and will now take place on October 14 instead.
According to the news agency, the India vs. Pakistan match will remain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, but fans will need to adjust their travel plans. Due to soaring hotel fares, passionate fans flying in from different parts of the world have reportedly resorted to booking hospital beds in the city.
India’s opening World Cup game against Australia in Chennai is scheduled for October 8, while Pakistan’s first two games will be in Hyderabad on October 6 and October 12.

By advancing the Indo-Pak game by a day to October 14, it could potentially impact the preparation time for the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side, as they will have one day less to prepare for the high-profile clash.
To address these concerns and make decisions regarding the scheduling of the Indo-Pak match, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has written to associations hosting World Cup matches, requesting their attendance at a meeting in New Delhi on July 27. During this meeting, the BCCI will discuss the issues with other cricket boards and make a final decision on the date and location of the much-anticipated match.
