Pakistan Squad for Asia Cup 2023: Babar Azam to Lead the Team

Babar Azam has been entrusted with the captaincy for the forthcoming edition of the Asia Cup tournament, with Shadab Khan being his deputy.

On Wednesday, August 9, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially disclosed the Pakistan squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. This continental championship is slated to take place from August 30 to September 17 in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Starting the tournament’s proceedings, the Men in Green will embark on their campaign by facing off against tournament newcomers Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 curtain-raiser. The participating teams are divided into two groups: Group A comprises Pakistan, Nepal, and Team India, while Group B features reigning champions Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

In accordance with a hybrid model, Pakistan will serve as the host for four matches, while Sri Lanka is set to accommodate the remaining nine games. Team India’s fixtures will all be played on Sri Lankan soil, including the grand final of the Asia Cup. The tournament holds substantial importance as it allows the participating teams to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the impending World Cup.
