In the T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistani team could not progress beyond the first round. After the crushing defeat, Pakistan cricket is currently undergoing a phase of change. Test coach gets place in selection committee
According to reports, now Test coach Jason Gillespie and ODI and T20 team coach Gary Kirsten have been included in the selection committee. However, it is not yet clear whether both the coaches will take decisions related to selection in all formats or in the format in which they are coaches. Central contract can be of one year
PCB’s central contract was earlier of three years, on which an agreement was reached between the players and the board last year. But now PCB is thinking of changing it. The salary of the players included in the central contract will not be reduced. But the central contract can be reduced from three years to one year. It is also expected that international players will have to play a certain number of domestic matches.
The Pakistani team has to host two Tests against Bangladesh, three Tests against England and two Tests against West Indies. All these Test matches are part of the World Test Championship. PCB had refused to give NOC to Naseem Shah to play in The Hundred. On the other hand, players like Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam are ready to join Global T20 Canada. But these players are also less likely to get NOC.
