Chennai Super Kings were the champions of the IPL 2021 trophy. Thus, the men in yellow will set their foot on the field in IPL 2022 to defend their title. Only CSK and MI have achieved this feat once respectively to win the IPL trophy consecutively. Will the whistle podu repeat the history? Will we see a new titleholder in this year’s edition?

Chennai Super Kings are the second most successful franchise in the IPL, after Mumbai Indians. The success mantra for both teams lies in their team core and management. Both the franchise have a captain, who doesn’t believe in changing players persistently from one game to another.
The core of the team remains the same throughout until an injury forces any player out. Thus, we can say 8-9 players remain the same on each side. Moreover, Chennai Super Kings have bought their key players back from IPL Auction 2022 including Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, and Deepak Chahar. Therefore, we expect 4 retained players and 3 bought back will constitute the possible XI of the team.
Here’s the Predicted Possible XI For CSK
1) Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in the form of his life since he debuted for CSK in IPL 2020. He was also the orange cap winner in the IPL 2021, where he scored 636 runs in 16 matches. Ruturaj Gaikwad was also retained by CSK for his valuable contribution to the team’s ladder of success.
2) Robin Uthappa
The player made a late entry in CSK’s camp last year, where he played only 4 games in place of Suresh Raina at number. However, we believe Robin Uthappa would open the innings this time due to the absence of Faf Du Plessis. Robin Uthappa scored 115 runs in those 4 matches which depict his caliber.
3) Moeen Ali
Chennai Super Kings retained their English all-rounder Moeen Ali for 8 crores. He held the number 3 position in the batting order last season and accumulated 357 runs at an average of 25.50. He has replaced the position of Mr. IPL (Suresh Raina) in the team. Further, he can quickly accelerate the run rate in middle overs with his thunderous hard-hitting capabilities.

4) Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu has cemented his middle-order batting position in this franchise. He is a crucial part of the team in crunch moments and provides stability to the team. Moreover, Ambati Rayudu has been associated with the franchise since 2018 depicts the kind of belief Dhoni holds in his batting abilities.
5) Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja was the first retention of CSK for a whopping 16 crores sum. Jadeja is expected to be the future captain for Chennai, once Dhoni retires from the IPL as well. Jadeja has been in terrific form with his bat and bowl both at an international and domestic level. He has improved a lot as a finisher for the team.
6) MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni – captain and wicket-keeper of Chennai Super Kings is expected to play his last IPL season this year. Dhoni is already 40 years old, although his helicopter shot still looks magnificent for eyes to watch. Who all wishes to see some big helicopter shots from Dhoni?
7) Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube could be a part of a possible XI for Chennai. CSK believes in having all-around alternatives, who can give extra options for bowling. Shivam being the hard hitter of the ball would be expected to provide extra runs for the team and chase huge targets.
8) Dwayne Bravo
DJ Bravo and his wicket celebration cannot be ruled out of any possible XI. The Caribbean still has a lot to offer from his plate. Further, the presence of DJ Bravo adds to batting and bowling depth.
9) Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar was bought by CSK in IPL 2022 auction for 14 crores. IT is crystal clear that no one spends such a big amount on any player to exclude him from possible XI. MS Dhoni admires swing bowlers and therefore Deepak would be seen stepping on the field. The bowler would prove every penny spend on him through his batting and bowling skills.
10)Adam Milne
Adam Milne’s services would be admired by Dhoni on the ground of Mumbai & Pune, which are announced as the two cities to host this year’s IPL matches. The pitches here have a lot to offer for batters and fast bowlers. Although, Adam Milne could leak some extra runs, the man behind the stumps ( MS Dhoni) knows how to bring out the best from a player.
11) Dwaine Pretorius
Dwaine Pretorius was the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in T20i World Cup 2021. Therefore, he has the potential to trouble the batters in this batting-dominated format of the game. We expect to see Dwaine Pretorius in possible XI of Chennai Super Kings.
