The T20 World Cup 2024 will witness the renewal of the India-Pakistan rivalry as the two teams are scheduled to face off on June 9 in New York. Their last T20 World Cup encounter was a memorable one, featuring one of Virat Kohli’s greatest innings in the format’s history.
The T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA and the Caribbean islands, will commence on June 1, with the final set for June 29.
While anticipation for the India vs Pakistan Group A match is high, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has raised significant doubts about the ICC’s commitment to promoting the game in the USA.
Modi claims that tickets for the marquee clash at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, are being sold for as much as $20,000 (Rs 16,65,138) per seat in the Diamond Club, which he believes indicates the ICC’s focus on profits over promoting the game.

According to the ICC, tickets for the match range from $300 (sold out) to $10,000. Modi expressed his shock, stating, “Shocked to learn that ICC is selling tickets for Diamond Club at $20,000 per seat for the #indvspak WC game. The WC in the US is meant for game expansion and fan engagement, not for making profits on gate collections. $2750 for a ticket is just #notcricket #intlcouncilofcrooks,” he added.
This comes shortly after a USA Today report stated that tickets for the India vs Pakistan match were being sold for twice their original price, with some tickets reaching as high as Rs 1 crore on the resale market.
