Indian Cricketer & DC Opener Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Surendra Yadav have been accused of criminal offenses by social media influencer Sapna Gill. A complaint was filed against them before an Andheri Magistrate, and Sapna has accused the two men of inhuman acts. She claims that they molested her in a public place, physically assaulted her with a deadly weapon, and outraged her modesty.
Sapna Gill’s complaint against Prithvi Shaw alleges that he placed his hands on her breasts and pushed her away, which she considers a shocking revelation. An FIR has been filed against Shaw and his friend under sections 354, 509, and 324 of IPC. The complaint also includes medical proof from a government hospital that supports her claim of sexual assault. Sapna herself was previously arrested in the same case, but she now claims that she is the victim of the alleged offenses.
“A criminal complaint was also filed against Airport police station officers Satish Kawankar and Bhagavat Garande under section 166A of IPC for not discharging their duties to register FIR under section 354 of IPC against Prithvi Shaw and others on the complaint of a woman. Both the matters are listed on 17 April for hearing,” Sapna’s lawyer Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan was quoted as saying by Times Now.
In February 2023, social media influencer Sapna Gill was arrested by Oshiwara police for allegedly assaulting Prithvi Shaw at a nightclub in Mumbai. The incident occurred after Shaw reportedly refused to take selfies with Sapna and her friends at Barrel Mansion Club in Vile Parle East. A video of the altercation went viral on social media, showing Sapna and Shaw in a physical fight.
After her arrest, Sapna Gill and three others accused in the case were granted bail by a court four days later. The incident is under investigation, and it is important to respect the legal process and allow the facts to come to light. Any act of sexual harassment or assault is a serious violation of a person’s rights and should be treated as such
Prithvi Shaw is currently playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. It will be interesting to see what the BCCI and IPL Governing Council decide for Prithvi Shaw in the upcoming matches.
