Manohar Patidar is the father of Rajat Patidar. Coming from a business background, Rajat Patidar embarked on his cricket journey at the age of 8 by joining a local cricket club. His grandfather further nurtured his talent by enrolling him in a cricket academy. Initially, he began his career as a bowler, but his focus shifted to batting after reaching the Under-15 levels.

Rajat Patidar Career

Rajat Patidar marked his first-class debut on October 30, 2015, during the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. His Twenty20 debut for Madhya Pradesh occurred on January 8, 2018, in the 2017–18 Zonal T20 League.

In the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, Patidar emerged as the top run-scorer for Madhya Pradesh, amassing 713 runs in eight matches. His cricket journey continued with a spot in the India Blue team’s squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy.

In the 2021 Indian Premier League auction, Patidar was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although his stint in the 2021 season was brief, he returned in the 2022 IPL mid-season, replacing Luvnith Sisodia. Patidar’s exceptional performance in the Eliminator match made history, being the first uncapped player to score a century in the IPL playoffs.

The 2022 season concluded with Patidar scoring 333 runs in 8 matches at an impressive average of 55.50. His outstanding form led to his retention by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2023 Indian Premier League.

With an average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 152.75, Patidar’s stellar performances extended to the Ranji Trophy. Recognizing his domestic excellence and IPL success, he earned a spot in the One-Day International (ODI) squad for series against South Africa and New Zealand in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Despite being named in the squads, he is yet to make his international debut.
