His cricket journey commenced at the age of 8 when he joined a cricket club. Subsequently, under the guidance of his grandfather, he transitioned into a cricket academy. Initially starting as a bowler, Patidar shifted his focus to batting after reaching the U-15 level in his cricketing career.

    Rajat Patidar Career

    Rajat Patidar, born on June 1, 1993, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, made his first-class debut on October 30, 2015, during the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. He marked his Twenty20 debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2017–18 Zonal T20 League on January 8, 2018.

    Emerging as the leading run-scorer for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, Patidar amassed 713 runs in eight matches. His impressive performance earned him a spot in the India Blue team’s squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy in August 2019.

    In the IPL auction held in February 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired Patidar for the 2021 Indian Premier League. Despite scoring 71 runs in four games, he was released ahead of the 2022 season. However, he later joined the team mid-season as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia for INR 20 Lakhs. Notably, on May 25, 2022, in the Eliminator match of the 2022 Indian Premier League, Patidar delivered a remarkable innings, scoring an unbeaten 112 runs off 54 balls against Lucknow Super Giants. This achievement made him the first uncapped player to score a century in the playoffs and equaled the record for the joint-fastest century (49 balls) in the playoffs, sharing the honor with Wridhiman Saha.

    Finishing the 2022 season with 333 runs in 8 matches at an average of 55.50, including a century and two half-centuries, Patidar was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2023 Indian Premier League.

    His outstanding domestic performances and contributions in the 2022 IPL led to his inclusion in the One-Day International (ODI) squad for the series against South Africa in October. Subsequently, in February 2023, he was named in the ODI squad against New Zealand as an injury replacement for Shreyas Iyer. However, he has yet to make his international debut as he did not feature in the playing eleven on both occasions.
