As India prepares to take on West Indies in Dominica on July 12 for the first Test match of the series, all eyes will be on the senior players who are facing scrutiny due to the impressive performances of young talents pushing for selection.

Ravi Ashwin Aims to Join Elite 700 Wickets Club in First Test Against West Indies

Among the senior players, R Ashwin will be a key figure to watch, especially after his remarkable performance as the highest wicket-taker for India in the 2021-23 WTC cycle, claiming 61 wickets.

In addition to replicating his previous success in the upcoming WTC cycle, the experienced off-spinner has his sights set on a significant milestone that would place him in the esteemed company of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh.

Here is a complete list of the highest wicket-takers for India in international matches:

    • Anil Kumble: 953
    • Harbhajan Singh: 707
    • R Ashwin: 697
    • Kapil Dev: 687
    • Zaheer Khan: 597

Ashwin recently garnered attention when he was omitted from the playing XI for the WTC final against Australia, sparking widespread discussions.
